Trailer Woes, Boat Goes

Our broken trailer at Blue Lakes
As our end of summer blowout vacation, we planned a trip to camp, fish , and play at three lakes over 5 days.   We booked a little camping cabin (cheezy room) at Pine Acres Resort on Blue Lakes, and loaded up both cars with the boys, the boat, and half of our belongs required to "rough it" for a few days and set off.  After an uneventful drive, we decided to launch the boat at the resort for some trout fishing action.   After backing the trailer down a dirt hill referred to as "the boat ramp" at the lake, we shoved the boat off w/ Jake at the helm, and proceeded to park the trailer.  Somewhere between the boat rolling off, and driving up the ramp, the trailer split in two.  It simply broke in half at the seams.   Thank goodness it broke on the ramp after launching the boat, rather than on the freeway where people could have been seriously injured.

Dina and Jake "On A Boat"
After scrambling for a few stressful minutes to try to figure out what to do, we arranged for the trailer to be towed to a local shop for repairs the following morning.   Ultimately, the trailer was fixed, and we were able to use the boat on Blue Lakes in the meantime.   The plan to fish Clear Lake was scratched, but the time spent fishing with Jacob, and playing with the family was just as enjoyable.   After picking up the newly repaired trailer and packing up all of our stuff, we departed the beautiful Pine Acres Resort and headed west to Lake Mendocino and Ukiah.   The boat and trailer performed flawlessly throughout the following three days.  We fished for hours, sped all over lake giving the family boat rides, and even spent an evening on the boat with Dina on a little date.  It turned out to be a very enjoyable vacation despite starting off on a terrible note.
